What does “derogatory” mean in a credit report?

“Derogatory” refers to items on your credit report that negatively impact your credit. These include missed or late payments; charge off or collection items; bankruptcy; foreclosures; or public records. As part of credit monitoring, we’ll send an alert when there’s a derogatory item detected on your credit report.

If you get an alert for a “derogatory” account that you don’t recognize, let us know right away by marking “No” in your alert. Or, you’re welcome to give us a call. To find the best phone number to call, log in to your account and scroll to the bottom of the page. The phone number you see is customized for your plan so you can get the help you need faster.
