What is dark web monitoring?
Dark web monitoring uses bots and human intelligence operatives to scan the dark web and closed hacker forums for compromised personal information. If you've entered information (such as login credentials or account numbers) to be monitored on the dark web, you may receive alerts if we find that your details have been exposed. When your personal information ends up on the dark web, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re experiencing fraud or identity theft. However, it may make you an easier target for future identity theft, scams, and phishing attempts.
What is the dark web?
The dark web is a place where cybercriminals can store and sell Personally Identifiable Information (PII) illegally. Illegal marketplaces on the dark web function much like large e-commerce sites. Cybercriminals can purchase things like credit card numbers, fake passports, or even Social Security numbers.
